The Professor by Cathy Perkins

Review of The Professor by Cathy Perkins

Published: January 23, 2012

4 out of 5 smirks

Synopsis: "The Professor presses his palm against her flank, the warmth of her blood, hotter than her skin. Hot, like the life force that he has claimed. The power over life and death is the ultimate thrill.

Someone is murdering women on college campuses. Agent Mick O'Shaughnessy's mission is simple: stop the killer. Following every lead, he meets Meg, the faculty advisor for one of the victims, who can help him track the killer through her campus connections.

Meg Connelly is focused on getting her master's degree to show her estranged family she doesn't need anybody's help to succeed. There's something about Mick she can't resist, but the last time she let someone get close to her, it cost her everything.

As the investigation heats up, so does their relationship. But Mick's interest in Meg doesn't just endanger her heart-it puts her in the sights of the killer."

The Professor by Cathy Perkins is a romance story which focuses equally if not more on the thriller side of the story.  The Professor  dives into the minds of a complicated agent, an abused child who grew up, and a predator.  The chemistry between Meg and Mick truly sparks off the pages, but it's the killer's mind which darkens readers perspective and makes it a reality.  I give The Professor by Cathy Perkins 4 smirks because readers will be surprised, jolted out of their seats, and on edge until the very end.

Deadly Is The Kiss by Rhyannon Byrd

Review of Deadly Is The Kiss by Rhyannon Byrd

Published: March 27, 2012

5 out of 5 smirks

Synopsis: "Tasked with protecting humanity from harm, the last thing Ashe Granger was searching for on his mission was his destined mate. Then, a mysterious dark eyed beauty reluctantly offered him shelter. A spark of danger—and a soul-deep recognition—ignited a burning, carnal need…

Since her family’s exile, Juliana Sabin had borne full responsibility for their safety. So when evil struck, she had no choice but to ally herself with the sexy guardian vampire. Now, months later, Ashe is back and tempting Juliana to reveal her darkest secrets…and desires. For the killer stalking the shadows isn’t acting alone—and he won’t rest until his deadly cravings are fulfilled."

Deadly Is The Kiss by Rhyannon Byrd is a story about knowing the best things in life are worth fighting for.  Deadly Is The Kiss is a wonderful mix of passion, enticement, thrill, mystery, action, and love.  I found myself inexplicitly drawn back to this story out of all the books I have in my to be read pile.  Jules and Ashe are just two characters who light up a room with their undeniable chemistry and heat.  Readers will instantly fall in love with both Ashe and Jules because they each have characteristics that are known as flaws, but it becomes clear in these characters that these flaws are clearly strengths.  I give Deadly Is The Kiss by  Rhyannon Byrd 5 smirks because I couldn't help, but fall in love with the characters and this story.

Whatever Reilly Wants by Maureen Child
Connor Reilly only has a few weeks to go in his “no sex for ninety days” bet with his brothers—and he figures no woman is safer to be around than his best friend, Emma Jacobsen. Until Emma shows up at a bar in a short."

The Sins of His Past by Roxanne St. Claire is sexy, funny, and about following your heart.

Tangling with Ty by Jill Shalvis is narcotic, socially awkward, and for Ty and Nicole a perfect fit.

Whatever Reilly Wants by Maureen Child is compelling, insightful, and about opening your eyes to what has been in front of you for a long time.

I give Kiss Me, I'm Irish by Roxanne St. Claire, Jill Shalvis, and Maureen Child 4 smirks because each character is relatable, fun, and easy to connect with.

A Perfect Storm by Lori Foster

Review of A Perfect Storm by Lori Foster

To Be Released: March 27, 2012

5 out of 5 smirks

Synopsis: "Spencer Lark already knows too many secrets about Arizona Storm, including the nightmare she survived and her resulting trust issues. But in order to expose a smuggling ring—and continue avenging his own tragic past—the bounty hunter reluctantly agrees to make Arizona a decoy. Yet nothing has equipped him for her hypnotic blend of fragility and bravery, or for the protective instincts she stirs in him.

Arizona wants to reclaim her life, which means acting as bait to lure the enemy into a trap. Sure it’s dangerous, especially with a partner as distractingly appealing as Spencer. But as their plan— and their chemistry—shifts into high gear, Arizona may discover there’s an even greater risk in surrendering her heart to a hero...."

A Perfect Storm by Lori Foster is a story that ties up loose ends and gives readers insight into the two characters that left us with question marks; Arizona and Spencer.  I love this series and I find the characters relatable in a way that is both unique and daring.  Arizona is unlike any character I have ever read about and I find her blatant curiosity and honesty refreshing and funny at times.  Spencer is a very complex character with honor and integrity that rivals all heroes ever written about.  I love how Spencer knows how to read Arizona's mind and how he accepts her for who she is.  I could go on and on about how much I love A Perfect Storm and the other books in this series, but I doubt readers want another novel to read which may contain spoilers.  I give A Perfect Storm by Lori Foster 5 smirks because it is an amazing story about overcoming fear and opening your heart.

Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss by Maya Banks

Review of Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss by Maya Banks

Published: March 6, 2012

5 out of 5 smirks

Synopsis: "No Man’s Bargaining Chip

Devon Carter was her first; now newly wed Ashley wants their passion to last. But her dreams of true love are crushed by the discovery that their marriage is another of Daddy’s business deals. Her strategy: act the part of perfect wife and make Devon love her.

But Devon misses the bubbly, no-holdsbarred woman his wife used to be. Who is this Ashley with the steely demeanor of a society wife? And will he find a way to rekindle the fi re in her eyes…especially now that she’s pregnant"

Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss by Maya Banks is a story that will grab readers by the fronts of their shirts into a world that is all about the two main characters Ash and Devon.  I know when I read a truly amazing book because my emotions are solely connected to the main characters emotions.  Ash and Devon are two characters who are so different and so right for each other it will be near impossible for readers not to fall in love with them.  Maya Banks continues to prove over and over again how amazingly gifted she is in writing romance.  If you have never read anything by Maya Banks I suggest you change that because after reading ten of her books, I am a true believer that she can bring out any emotion in her readers she wants.  I give Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss by Maya Banks 5 smirks because the characters are fun, interesting, complex and will leave readers feeling like they were a part of something bigger than themselves.

Review of A SEAL in Wolf's Clothing by Terry Spear

4 out of 5 smirks

Synopsis: "With the ultimate alpha male hero—werewolf Finn Emerson, Navy SEAL—bestselling author Terry Spear ratchets up the heat in the new installment in her hugely popular paranormal romance series.

A SEAL in Wolf's Clothing by Terry Spear is a funny, enchanting love story about waiting for the right moment.  Finn and Meara are two very similar characters who will pull readers in with their witty banter and sense of humor.  I give A SEAL in Wolf's Clothing by Terry Spear 4 smirks because the characters are intriguing, the story is thrilling, and it will make readers take notice about Alpha males and how they aren't so bad to have around.
