Touch Me by Callie Croix is a short story about releasing your fear and becoming confident in what you want out of life. Tianna and Alex are two characters who can and do read each other so easily that it will make readers believe in soul mates again. I found this book to be one I could not put down because Janey and Mal are two characters so magnetic they draw readers into their personalities. Readers will be guessing along with Janey and Mal what the other one thinks just based on the smallest hint of body language. I give Sex, Lies, and Surveillance by Stephanie Julian 5 smirks because the characters are extrodinary, yet relateable and the storyline will keep readers guessing.

Hidden Summit by Robyn Carr is a book with a really great storyline, but readers need to be in rhythm with the writer to fully appreciate this story. My rhythm did not match Robyn Carr's, but I will not deny the great story I knew could be found in Hidden Summit. I give Hidden Summit by Robyn Carr 4 smirks because while I could not connect with the story itself, there is no doubt these characters in this small town are amazing and drawn people in.

Baby, Don’t Go by Stephanie Bond is a wonderful story about finding trust and love in the last place you ever thought you would find it. I have been waiting weeks to read this story capping out finally with the oldest Armstrong brother Marcus. Marcus is a character who is so surly and in charge that it’s hot and when he finally shows interest in a woman, readers will breathe a sigh. Alicia is a lot like Marcus himself, always working and taking care of others before taking care of herself. Once they meet they almost have an instant connection to one another because they recognize themselves in each other. Baby, Don’t Go by Stephanie Bond is a great story that will have readers laughing, crying, and rooting for an H.E.A. I give Baby, Don’t Go by Stephanie Bond 5 smirks because it is a must read and must own book with a lot of personality.

A Just Deception by Adrienne Giordano is an addictive story about letting go of the past to make way for the future. I found myself unable to stop reading A Just Deception because the story takes unexpected twists and turns, I just know readers will be on the edge of their seats trying to figure out what happens. The main characters Izzy and Peter fit so right with each other, being both insane and all, I found it hard not to fall in love with them. Readers will laugh along with Izzy and brood along with Peter, they are just characters who demand to be noticed. I give A Just Deception by Adrienne Giordano 5 smirks because the story takes readers on a roller coaster ride, the characters are irresistible, and the ending is heartwarming.

A Vampire For Christmas is a collection of short stories by Michele Hauf, Laurie London, Alexis Morgan & Caridad Pineiro and I can tell you that each one is amazing. What I love most about these short stories are the vampires all these authors have created and how intense and instant their connections are with the other main characters. It also helps that all the vampires in this book are gorgeous and hard to resist. I found myself changing all the things on my Christmas list to something like this: Eagan, Damien, Trace, any other hunky vampire available who is honorable and broods…a lot. I give A Vampire For Christmas by Michele Hauf, Laurie London, Alexis Morgan & Caridad Pineiro 5 smirks because the vampires draw readers in, the stories are fun and romantic, and all these authors created different worlds of vampires and supernatural’s that is creative and will linger in readers minds.

Second Guessing Fate by Claire Robyns is a story about taking your life into your own hands and following your heart (not tarot cards). I just love the way Nick and Gemma have a very simple and easy banter to their relationship which works well on the simple level they both desire. I found myself laughing along with Nick and Gemma; being pulled in by their friends’ advice and ultimately falling in love with all the characters this story has to offer. I give Second Guessing Fate by Claire Robyns 4 smirks because the characters are extreme and instantly draw you in, the story is to the point, and readers will laugh throughout the ridiculousness of it all.

Ecstasy Untamed by Pamela Palmer is an enthralling tale about finding out where you belong. I really wish I could have read the first book in this series because that would have made reading Ecstasy Untamed by Pamela Palmer all that much more important. I found myself falling in love with this story and the characters in it. I love the love triangle between Maxim, Faith, and Hawke; but more than that I love how each character fits into this ever growing story. I think the most important thing I love about this book is how Faith and Hawke always find the humor in everything they do, even during passion. I give Ecstasy Untamed by Pamela Palmer 5 smirks because Faith and Hawke are two characters who are easy to laugh with, the story is exciting, and the other characters make reading witty, funny, and entertaining.

The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa is a lot like Ash himself. Since it is Ash’s journey, it is very action packed, with mysterious trials and crazy unimaginable creatures that haunt different parts of the Neverever. I don’t want to give any spoilers because frankly that is what makes this book so good. As I was reading I was more surprised, outraged, and hurt (in the best, most invested way possible) by all the mysterious surprises that go along with Ash’s story. I also love how Julie Kagawa describes everything in such detail that we as readers feel we are right alongside the characters.

The main characters Ash, Puck, and, of course, Grim are what make The Iron Knight such an enjoyable, thrilling read. Ash is a fantasy come to life, the bad boy prince whose heart is as cold as his icy palace. He’s every girls dream; loyal, determined, motivated, who rarely smiles but when he does the whole world melts away. In The Iron Knight we get to see more of the true Ash; the way he thinks, feels, and sees his life and those in it. It is truly an experience to cherish because as most of you know, it is hard to get Ash to say anything or show emotion. As for Puck himself, always a prankster, his sarcasm and love to joke always tugs your heart strings. Puck is reality(not in a bad way, but a way to look forward to), he is the guy who makes you laugh, is at your back at all times (even if you don’t think you deserve it), always has a witty comeback, first to smile, and sarcastic comments galore. Puck is the man you end up marrying in reality, he’s just too irresistible to let go. Grim, as always, poofs in and out, always quick with his sharp tongue, and rarely accepts or gives compliments. These characters make The Iron Knight what it is; which is a truly phenomenal story about love, friendship, loss, pain, weakness, conscience, regrets, and memories (kind of like reading what it is like to be human from a fey perspective).

The reason The Iron Fey Series is one of my favorite series is because in each book Julie pulls you into the storyline. You are invested in the characters and when they fail, you fail, their heart breaks, yours does as well. It is an emotional journey and that is why these books are so spetacular. The Iron Fey Series makes you believe in the Neverever, wars fought in distance worlds parallel to ours, love lost, pranks and magic that you didn’t think could be possible. Julie has a unique way of pulling the reader into being an additional character. You feel the emotions of the other characters and can’t help but laugh, cry, get outraged, scared, and determined. It is like visiting a world you only wished and dreamt about. The Iron Fey Series makes reading great books, a magical experience that is one of a kind.

You know when you read a story that is so good you stay up half the night to finish reading it? Well Crave by Melissa Darnell is one of the few stories that have that effect on me. I am blown away by how this story pulled me in and captivated me from the very first page. I loved all the characters and the plot twists, it was everything a book should be and more. While reading the last page of this book I am reminded of a similar book which leaves off abruptly so that all I want to do is scream; The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Normally I would not even mention another book in a book review, but this book is my favorite trilogy of all time and I don’t mind saying in this review Crave by Melissa Darnell is right up there with my top book. I would hate to be a blogger who told readers everything about this story because in order to experience the wondrous, enthralling, enticing book that Crave is; readers will have to be surprised. I will say that getting to know characters like Tristan and Savannah is a delightful treat. Two characters who share such a strong connection that not even family ties can break it; with the power to see into each other’s souls is like having readers be a part of the story as well.

Crave by Melissa Darnell is a series that will grow into what I am sure will be bigger than any books out there today. I find myself liking the paranormal aspect that isn’t like any other books; it is unique and fresh in a very new and inventive way. I’m actually heartbroken the next book in this series is not out yet because I would surely have forgone sleeping if it was available. I rarely do this, but I give Crave by Melissa Darnell 7 smirks because I can’t help but be in love with this story, the characters, and all the possibilities future books can have.

I think this is by far my favorite book from this series so far by Shannon Stacey. Yours To Keep is absolutely a book readers should have on their bookshelves. I was blown away by how fast the story went by because I was so glued to my screen until it was done. I loved Sean and Emma, who are so alike and so different it was plain to see how well they fit together. This book made me laugh, cry, smirk, get angry, feel heart break, and so many other emotions. I LOVED the sticky notes Sean used, the way Emma was “bat-shit crazy” and the way these two characters came together was just so comical and romantic. I felt their chemistry and passion for one another as each page went by. I give Yours To Keep by Shannon Stacey 5 smirks because the characters are sooo loveable, the storyline is so witty and funny, and the ending is so adorably sweet and reassuring. I’m still waiting for my Kowalski.

Undeniably Yours by Shannon Stacey is an unexpected romance story about finding in love in the place you thought you’d never end up. So far I have really enjoyed this series by Shannon Stacey and look forward to reading the next book, Yours To Keep. Undeniably Yours by Shannon Stacey will make readers fall in love with the guy who will never settle down, it will make readers crazy insane with Beth’s hung ups, and readers will fall madly in love with Lily. Undeniably Yours is a roller coaster ride of emotion between Kevin and Beth’s unusual situation. I loved the witty, funny conversations and all of the heated unsettled arguments; it really wasn’t like reading it a great book, it was like watching a great movie. I found myself absolutely glued to my chair as I read Undeniably Yours, just totally memorized by the characters and storyline. I give Undeniably Yours by Shannon Stacey 5 smirks because Kevin and Beth are an odd but truly wonderful fit, the Kowalski family dynamic is always a treat to read about, and this book just made me laugh at such unexpected times that I found myself adoring it before it even ended.

Exclusively Yours by Shannon Stacey makes romance stories worth reading. In Exclusively Yours by Shannon Stacey readers get to see not only the lives of the main characters through each of their points of views, but we also get to see the lives of the family we are surrounded with as well. Exclusively Yours by Shannon Stacey had just the right amount of romance, adventure, humor, wittiness, and charm to make any reader flock to this book. I give Exclusively Yours by Shannon Stacey 5 smirks because the romance was heart- warming, but like any story I love it also made me laugh and wish for my very own “Joe.”

Until There Was You by Kristan Higgins is a fabulous story about knowing in your heart who you love and not being afraid to take a risk on love itself. I found Until There Was You by Kristan Higgins to be a witty, funny, dramatic, heart throbbing story. I couldn’t stop reading this book because it was so good. The dialogue just kept me on my toes in suspense, not to mention how many times I laughed along with the characters. Posey and Liam are these two characters who seem to have nothing in common, but when you look beneath the surface of who they are, readers will find themselves shouting “they’re perfect together!” I give Until There Was You by Kristan Higgins 4 smirks because the story wasn’t just about the main characters, it was about an entire family of characters and I simply couldn’t stop reading and laughing. I find this romance story so unique that I am sure readers will fall in love with it.

The Sherriff’s Daughter by Kay Stockham is a story about opening up and following your heart when all your instincts rebel against it. I found Carly and Liam to be two characters who are very unique, in the way they think. I loved that we as readers were able to get two points of views from the two main characters and really be able to get inside their heads. I also loved how different the characters were to me and how I wasn’t able to instantly relate to them, it was a breath of fresh air. Lord of the Wolfyn by Jessica Andersen continues on the story of the Royal House of Shadows Series, in a rendition of Little Red Riding Hood. I found Lord of the Wolfyn by Jessica Andersen to reach a part of my inner reader that the other renditions of fairytales have not been able to contact. This rendition of Little Red Riding Hood had more adventure, excitement, thrills, and uncertainty which the original lacked. My inner reader also felt a connection to the characters Dayn and Reda because they were each paralyzed by a fear that didn’t want to identify. That’s what makes these characters relatable, is they show a fear for something other than losing one another. I find it to be refreshing in a romance story because it shows depth and courage. I gave Lord of the Wolfyn by Jessica Andersen 5 smirks because the rendition was executed perfectly, the storyline keeps the readers wondering, it continues on with the major theme in this series book, and the characters reflect reality.

New Fall TV 2011

Review of New Fall TV (at least the ones I watched ;) )

Ahhhh smell that? It’s Fall which means new Fall TV shows. I’ve taken the liberty of watching a few shows and am now going to share my opinion on them with all of you. If you haven’t yet had the time to watch any of these shows, you might feel differently or antsy once you read this review.

Pan Am- Loved it. 5 smirks. I usually don’t like 60’s themed anything, but this show I couldn’t take my eyes off of. I like how we get to see into the lives of each main character as they go about doing their jobs working for Pan Am.

The Playboy Club- Adored it. 5 smirks. This show is very interesting and I can’t wait to see where it takes viewers. In the first five minutes someone gets murdered and there’s a cover up; truly surprising. I also love that it is set in Chicago. This show makes me wish I could wear a bunny costume every day.

The Secret Circle- I really want to say this show is witchy…so I will. 5 smirks. I love the whole secret aspect to the show and how it circles each one of the six families. Although I have only watched one episode so far, I am really looking forward to the rest of the season. It makes me wish I had magical powers. Just saying.

New Girl- So geek chic. 4 smirks. I will continue to watch this show because it makes me laugh and I feel so awkward for the main character Jess. I also fell in love with her new roommates because it ain’t easy find friends like them.

Hart of Dixie- So fantastic! 5 smirks! Watching this show is like watching what I want for my future to come true. I love the southern accents and the party’s. I adore the characters and find myself intensely waiting to see more. It’s funny and charming.

2 Broke Girls- So very entertaining. 4 smirks. I found myself laughing and shaking my head at the same time. I would really like this show to survive because I’m kind of invested in seeing what happens to the main characters.

Charlie’s Angels- I’m over Charlie, but his new Angels sure know how to fight. 3-4 smirks, I can’t decide yet. I love the actresses who play the Angels; I’m just hoping they bring more to the table in the future. I do plan to keep up with this show, because it is a classic, but I’m still on the fence about it.

Ringer- Intense. 4 smirks. Love all the actors in this show and as most of you know I am a SMG fan because of BTVS, but this show could go either way for me. I find myself glued to my chair every time I watch it; however the set up for the show could go either way (make want to watch more or not at all). Crime, mystery, stolen identity, cheating, it has it all.

Out of this trilogy of books released this year about Fool’s Gold I think this one is my favorite. I found myself laughing almost the whole time and being teleported into Nevada’s and Tucker’s lives. I love all the Susan Mallery books I have ever read and this one is no different. Everything the main characters felt, I felt and was so absorbed in the story I literally didn’t get up from my chair until I was finished.

Things I Loved About Only His by Susan Mallery:

Nevada realizing what she wants does matter and accepting her feelings as true and pure

And Tucker sharing something very deep/romantic in front of Cat’s gift to the town

I give Only His by Susan Mallery 6 smirks because I LOVE a book that can make me laugh and be a part of the story. I waited so long to read this book and it was very karmic I was able to after my first week of classes; it was very relaxing/exciting. Only His by Susan Mallery is a book readers will read over and over again because the characters are funny and connection between Tucker and Nevada is such that readers will wish they had the same connection with someone else. Must own.

Val’s Rancher by Debra Kayn is a truly inspiring story about finding love within yourself and the person you were meant to be with. While reading this book I found myself falling in love with all the characters in this series. Each one brings about unique and spectacular personalities that are also intertwined with one another. Val and Sam have this magnetic force that brings them together whenever they are near one another and neither of them can deny it. No matter how much they both try and fight it, we as readers can see they belong and are perfect for each other. Val’s Rancher by Debra Kayn is a fantastic story about following your heart and not your head. Val and Sam are two characters who readers will not be able to turn away from. I give Val’s Rancher by Debra Kayn 5 smirks because the characters continue to surprise me, the story is just too romantic for words, and Val and Sam have this deep connection that will reach readers everywhere.

Bad Boys Do by Victoria Dahl is just an incredible story. I found myself flying through the pages which I only do with books that hold excitement. Jamie and Olivia are very interesting characters that have a surprisingly a lot in common. I was so involved in the book that I felt every emotion the characters were feeling. I was sad, hurt, outraged, appalled, happy, content and most importantly I found myself laughing. I’m a type of person who thinks laughing every day is good for the soul and this book definitely made me laugh. Bad Boys Do by Victoria Dahl just captures readers’ attention with all the witty dialogue and slow progression of Jamie and Olivia’s relationship. I also enjoyed the fact that the ex-husband is as full of himself as the characters think he is. I give Bad Boys Do by Victoria Dahl 5 smirks because I was invested in the outcome, the characters, the storyline, and overall just fell in love with Jamie and Olivia. I can’t wait until the next book comes out!

Something So Right by Elyse Mady is a touching story about finding happiness that has always been right in front of you. Sam and Lily are two characters who are so afraid of how they feel for each other that the possibility of something more between them is paralyzing. I found Sam to be this larger than life guy who shows readers what a true gentleman is. And Lily shows readers the hidden strength she keeps within herself, but rarely believes in it. This is the second book I have read by Elyse Mady and I find her to be truly in touch with every character and world she creates. Readers will see an inner life within each character brought out by Elyse Mady’s writing. I give Something So Right by Elyse Mady 5 smirks because the storyline is beautifully written, the characters are deep, and it is a book worth reading over and over again.

With each book I read of this series, I become more and more invested in the outcomes. While the main point seems to be deriving fairy tales into this wonderful, magical land, each book has a purpose. A different part of the story is unveiled along with different characters that make up the royal four. Lord of Rage by Jill Monroe takes readers on adventure of the lands, where Princess Breena soon discovers her “dream-life” is real life. While continuing to discover hidden memories Breena makes a deal with a beast, or rather Osborn a very talented warrior. Breena and Osborn’s love-hate relationship sparks each page as readers continue on this heart-wrenching journey of finding a place where they belong. Lord of Rage by Jill Monroe is about discovering dreams really can come true. Even the most tempting, hot, scorching dreams can come true. Breena and Osborn soon realize that what has been holding them back this whole time is the same thing they both crave. I give Lord of Rage by Jill Monroe 4 smirks because the characters are more than relatable, the storyline was believable, and the chemistry between Breena and Osborn is simply desire filling.

Goddess Boot Camp by Tera Lynn Childs takes readers on a roller coaster ride of emotions for not just one of the characters, but with all of them. In this story we get to see different sides of Phoebe, Griffin, Adara, Stella, Nicole, and Troy. What I love most about this book is the conflict; with so much going on readers will feel like Phoebe who is being pulled into different directions and sometimes even being controlled by her emotions. I give Goddess Boot Camp by Tera Lynn Childs 5 smirks because I felt every emotion the characters experienced, I laughed at the witty dialogue, and the storyline keeps readers guessing.

Katie and Luc are just two characters you want to be able to miniaturize and put in your pocket. They are adorable and hot headed with wit to match and it makes readers truly appreciate how unique and funny they are. I don’t want to give much of this story away because I just love it so much and want readers to experience it, but I will say that reading this story is like falling in love with reading all over again. It had everything in it; romance, mystery, thrill, action, drama. Katie and Luc themselves are constantly surprising each other and readers it is like being on a roller coaster ride. I give Hold Me by Betsy Horvath 5 smirks because it is a great book with a little bit of everything in it and the Katie/Luc relationship is one to behold and laugh along with. Must read, must own.

I am really starting to love this author. I’ve read two books of hers from two different series and find myself searching for more of her books to read. Tera Lynn Childs has a cunning, magical, unique way to writing young adult books which can make any reader bow down to her abilities. I find that books in general can mean something to each different reader. Oh.My.Gods. by Tera Lynn Childs is the type of book that inspires me. I felt an emotional connection to Phoebe, Nicole, Troy, and even Griffin that left me feeling inspired to do the best I can in every aspect of my life. Frankly, it was something I really needed because now all I want to do is work out and try out running to see if that fits me. Oh.My.Gods. is a story about unexpected surprises, experiences, and outcomes that can really knock a girl off her feet. I don’t want to give away anything this book has to offer, but I will say Tera Lynn Childs is a must read and a must own. I give Oh.My.Gods. by Tera Lynn Childs 5 smirks because I felt the emotion the characters experience, I laughed, and I was ultimately inspired to change something about myself in order to better my life.

Chantilly’s Cowboy by Debra Kayn is a fabulous story about finding a way to have it all in life. I found Chantilly Lace and Jack to be two people who absolutely love what they do, but both had to give up a lot along the way in order to achieve all they have. Chantilly is a character who will constantly surprise readers and Jack is a character who readers will dream about (because seriously, who wouldn’t want a cowboy like Jack?). I also loved how both characters were very honest about their feelings for each other, so the reader was never in the dark trying to figure out how they were feeling. I give Chantilly’s Cowboy by Debra Kayn 4 smirks because the story is straight-forward, the characters are loveable, and I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

Only Yours by Susan Mallery is an extraordinary story about accepting yourself before accepting love. As most of you know, I am a huge Susan Mallery fan and find all her books to be at least 4 or 5 smirks. Only Yours is about another one of the Hendrix triplets, Montana and her journey to not being afraid to be who she is. I am currently enrolled in three upper division summer school classes at the University I attend and I had a midterm today. I told myself if I finish this midterm and do some extra work, my reward would be to read Only Yours by Susan Mallery. I am so glad I finished all my work because Only Yours by Susan Mallery is a must buy book that readers will want to read over and over again.

The Game of Love by Jeanette Murray is one of the most original romance stories I have read this summer. It was unique and captivating in the story itself and the characters. I instantly fell in love with Brett and Chris as a couple because they are so much alike and yet so different. I loved how they danced around each other for the longest time and found ways without even realizing it to become a part of each other’s everyday lives. I also loved the fact that we as readers got to see three points of view in this story and that Chris remained as much as a mystery to readers as she did to Brett. I give The Game of Love by Jeanette Murray 5 smirks because the characters were not only relatable, but loveable and I couldn’t stop reading it. I also loved the fact that this story made me laugh which is something I value when reading a book.

Motor City Wolf by Cindy Spencer Pape is a thrilling story. I found myself on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. I adored Fianna and Greg; their uncertainties, their ability to read one another, and the love and respect they have for each other. I found Motor City Wolf by Cindy Spencer Pape to make me laugh, cry, and be outraged (a good book will always make you feel the emotion the characters are going through). My only regret is that I wish I could have read the first two books in this series before I read Motor City Wolf because then I would have had the full background on the rest of the characters. That being said however, I still give Motor City Wolf by Cindy Spencer Pape 5 smirks because it is a book readers will love and can be a part of.

How I Survived Summer School

As many of you know, I am a college student who just re-discovered reading about 2 years ago. And I mainly write reviews for books, but there are rare occasions such as today that I also write about TV shows. I am going into my last semester of college this coming semester, but in order to do that I had to take 3 upper division courses in summer school. When I signed up I thought I might die just thinking about how much work I had to get done. The first month I was a mess and stressed out to the point I would break down almost every day. Then something truly amazing happened. I discovered while avoiding thinking about summer school and the work I had to do, a TV show that I wasn’t sure I would like but wanted to give a chance. Smallville.

After watching 2 seasons of Smallville, I was more relaxed and carefree about my classes and getting my work done on time. Smallville saved my life this summer and I thought it would only be right to write about this amazing show on my blog. Smallville is a show people can relate to and even re-watching an episode gives me thrills. I love all the characters, the concept, the storylines, how the show progresses, and takes viewers on this roller coaster ride that you don’t want to end. Without Smallville, I would still be a basket case and be worrying about my upcoming final semester. It is very rare that I find a show to be everything I need it to be in order to make me committed to it and so emotionally involved that I do a cheerleader dance every time I decide to re-watch it. Most of you know what the show is about and if not go to your local library and check out a season or two because it is worth it. 8 smirks to Smallville, the show that saved my life and helped me survive summer school.

The hero and heroine of the story, Nicolai and Jane, are so alike and so different readers will have the time of their lives reading about the two of them, together and a part. I am so in love with this series already. No One to Trust by Julie Moffett is spectacularly funny, witty, adventurous, and sexy. I adore Lexi Carmichael! She is amazingly relatable and just reading about her one adventure has this geek girl looking forward to having an alternate identity. What I loved most about this story was the mystery behind it all. Readers will feel like they are unraveling the clues alongside Lexi which is a really great feeling. I also loved how we as readers get to see Lexi transform herself in order to start living in the real world. As readers I think we are more perceptive of all the guys in Lexi’s life and can see the unlimited possibilities, which is really exciting. I give No One to Trust by Julie Moffett 5 smirks because I just LOVE this book so much and cannot wait until the next book to come out!!

Mark, of course, is a gorgeous man who has untold depths and the ability to make readers hearts stop as he realizes what he truly wants out of life. Irresistible? by Stephanie Bond is easily 5 smirks because the characters were lovable, the story had depth, and it made me laugh and wish for happy endings.

What really made this story pop for me was the mix of mystery, romance, betrayal, and love. It was the perfect combination book that left me wanting to re-read it over and over again. I couldn’t get enough of the characters Tessa and Luke because they have this amazing chemistry that almost seems to burn each page of this book. I also really loved Eric and Jamie and the whole Donovan family dynamic. I gave Good Girls Don’t by Victoria Dahl 5 smirks because it is a must own book that has bright chemistry and will leave readers wanting more.

In this book readers get to see a new side of Laurel, a character who has survived so much, and yet still has the strength of will to fight for what she has achieved. Along with Laurel we as readers also get to see other familiar characters and their points of views. But the most intriguing part of Laurel’s story has to be the handsome, sexy Sherriff Myles King. With chemistry that sparks with every glance, readers will be on the edge of their seats wondering if, when, and how Laurel and Myles will be able to love again in spite of the circumstances which brought them together. The main characters, Laurel and Myles, have this incredibly relatable essence which not only distinguishes them as individuals but as a couple as well. The town of Pineview is charming and gossipy, in all the ways a small town should be. Morning Glory is perhaps an underrated movie that the masses did not accept because it wasn’t at their intensity for comedy, romance, drama, etc. I found Morning Glory to be a light at the end of a tunnel beckoning me to watch it. I watch it and fell in love. I fell in love with dreams and hope. I fell in love with finding a way in life. And I fell in love with finding a home away from home. Morning Glory made me feel better, almost relieved, about where my life is headed and I know that every time I watch this movie, I will be able to feel this intense emotion of wanting what I want and going for it (even if it means moving away from those I care about). The great thing for me about movies is their ability to make me feel a part of something bigger than myself, to motivate me to do what I can for my life, and to make these unbelievable characters that I would so have drinks with. Morning Glory is a movie like this, I highly recommend owning it because it will show you that not all movies have to be funny or drama filled the entire time to hold your interest. Some movies are just there to open your eyes and make you smile. I give Morning Glory 6 smirks because this movie made me fall in love with movies all over again and not many movies out there can do that.On July 17, 2011 I fell in love. I fell in love with movies all over again. Normally, this blog is not so focused on movie reviews as it is on books. That being said however, things from now on might change because there are many movies, TV shows, and music I would love to talk about with those who are willing to read. My point is I fell in love with movies again today. I watched a truly spectacular movie about growing up and finding a family in the most unlikely place, in a job. I felt my hope soar as I watched this woman do her job in her own nutty way which was actually somewhat awkward and graceful at the same time. I watched actors I have admired for the longest time become more to me in this movie than they have in any other. And most importantly, this movie gave me faith in myself as I am soon approaching a crossroads in my life where I have to decide what I want and how I want to get there.

Forgive My Fins by Tera Lynn Childs is quite a remarkable story. I haven’t read a good YA book in a long while and find I can’t help, but wanting to read the next book in this story, Fins Are Forever. I found myself helplessly devoted to this story, wanting to know how it ended, why for the love of fish didn’t Lily see what was right in front of her, and wanting to read more about Quince’s charming wit. I found myself totally caught up with Lily’s emotions that I was almost in sync with her throughout most of the book. It was when I got up to get a drink and came back to the story I felt like Spike in Buffy The Vampire Slayer show, looking at Lily and thinking to myself “Lily, you blind idiot can’t you see he doesn’t love you?” I was captivated by Lily’s journeys of the heart and found eventually I had nothing left to read because the book was OVER. OVER, I TELL YOU. That was almost as heart-wrenching as when Lily told Quince…oh well never mind, I don’t want to spoil the book for you. I give Forgive My Fins by Tera Lynn Childs 5 smirks because it is a tantalizing book you will not want to put down, it will make you wish you were a mermaid princess, swimming around the ocean, and you will most definitely want a handsome prince along your side. Must read, must own, it is just too precious not to.

Only Mine by Susan Mallery is a wonderful story about finding identity and a place to call home in the one you were meant to be with. As readers we get to see more Fool’s Gold characters shine through in this series and become more invested in their lives as this story focuses on Dakota Hendrix (one of the triplets) and how she finds her path in life. We also get to meet a newcomer in town named Finn and let me just say he is very much one of those fictional guy characters every girl wishes she could marry in real life. As has become customary I will tell you all the things I loved about this book so I don’t give anything away.

Crime and romance go hand in hand with Midnight Fear touching more on the mystery and a number of suspects who may or may not be after Caitlyn. The killer however, is one no one will suspect. I give Midnight Fear by Leslie Tentler 4.5 smirks because I couldn’t stop reading and I find the mix of crime, suspense, mystery, and romance to work amazingly well together in this installment of Leslie Tentler’s series.

Savor the Danger by Lori Foster is my favorite book so far in this series. I love everything about it and don’t mind gushing about it. I give Savor the Danger by Lori Foster 6 smirks because it is hard not to fall in love with characters like Alani and Jackson; their personalities speak volumes to readers who are inexplicably drawn in. This is probably one of the best mystery, action-packed, romance stories I have ever read. I am so excited about this book I’m afraid to write a full review of it because I may unintentionally give something away. I will say this to all you readers out there Alani, Jackson, Trace, Dare, and the new edition Arizona will make you want to run out and buy not only a copy of Savor the Danger, but the other books in this series as well as one that proves to follow this book. Savor the Danger by Lori Foster is exciting, adrenaline inducing, action packed, heartwarming, surprisingly enticing story about overcoming battles within yourself and battles with others you didn’t realize you had.

I enjoyed reading When You Dare by Lori Foster so much that it was impossible not to finish in one sitting. Angelfire by Courtney Allison Moulton is a very dark and surprising book. I loved how it was detailed with the world Ellie and Will share and I love how the author seems to switch light when talking about the trivial world (aka the world we all live in). When the author describes the trivial world it reminds me of light and bubble gum which is really hard to achieve. When the author describes the other world (The Grim) I not only feel darkness but it is almost as if it surrounds you and the only light is Ellie and Will.

I gave Angelfire 4.5 smirks because it is a book that explores a whole new world and shows the true lightness to the true darkness. I really enjoyed reading Angelfire not just because it has a gorgeous cover but because it made me root for Ellie and for Will and even for Nathaniel. I find it very rare for a book to make me feel what the characters are feeling and this book does that in spades.

Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare was like The Mortal Instrument Series books, magnificent. Personally, I hate historical books no matter what genre they might be but, Clockwork Angel I loved. I was transported back to the Victorian Era of Shadowhunters and Downworlders alike and I loved every minute I read the book.

Cassandra Clare has this unique way of writing a story that entraps readers in the snarky, bluntness of her characters. All the characters in Clockwork Angel are incredibly entertaining in their own way and I absolutely LOVED that we as readers got to see Magnus Bane! Magnus is just the most fabulous warlock out there. Like with most books I love I usually make a list of things about the book that I loved because otherwise I would go on and on and on, paragraph after paragraph with praise, but sometimes that can be overkill.

Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare makes you want to re-read the City of Bones, City of Ashes, and City of Glass. It really pulls readers into the history of everything of the Shadow World was back in that era. I wasn’t sure if I would be too keen on the historical aspect of this book, but the historical aspect I thought was really done well and only adds to the flow of the story. I gave 6 smirks to Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare because it is a book that makes you feel what the characters feel, and makes you feel like you are right alongside with them discovering not only themselves, but the mysteries of the world around them.

Once In A Full Moon by Ellen Schreiber is a fantastically charming read that will leave you with a smile on your face. Once In A Full Moon has great characters who are high school-ish, smart alecks with a burning desire to cause drama in every way they can. OZ by Eden Elgabri and Heather Peters is one of the most unique versions of The Wizard of Oz out there to date. OZ retold the story of Dorothea and her adventures to save her home. OZ brings a whole new meaning to the phrase “off to see the wizard.”

I’ve never been in love or felt love lost or even felt heart break, the only time I feel these emotions is when I am reading a very good book. The Lovers by Eden Bradley is a story that starts out erotic and goes more towards finding who you are and how love can blossom into your life without you ever realizing it. I thought The Lovers was a fast pace story about three characters who are so different from each other that come together and allow love to be the outcome for at least two of them.

Bettina and Jack are two complex, sex-driven characters who share more than they originally think with each other. Initially it was Audrey, Bettina, and Jack coming together with sexually charged energy but whether Audrey fell away herself or whether she would have been pushed away, Bettina and Jack are a more perfect fit. The Lovers was an interesting take on writer’s, retreats, sex, lust, and love that I found heart stopping, gut clenching, and heart breaking all at once. I gave The Lovers by Eden Bradley 5 smirks because when Bettina felt something I felt it right alongside her so much so that my heart physically hurt at one point. The Lovers is definitely a book I would recommend because it is what it is, which is honest.

Candy Christmas by Adrianne Byrd was a delightful, sensual story about trusting in yourself. I really enjoyed Candy and Monty’s witty banter and heated arguments (at least on her side of things). I loved how everything in the office they worked in had a pool going for everything involving Candy and Monty themselves. 5 smirks.

I loved the fact Cami and Gideon fell for each other because they weren’t looking to fall for each other and I think it’s a great lesson that just because your focus is elsewhere doesn’t mean you won’t find the person you are suppose to spend the rest of your life with. 5 smirks.

Takes the need for adventure out of a person and opens their eyes to the adventures already taking place in their lives, even in the form of a very attractive, charming, maybe out of my league but totally worth it man.

Sister of the Bride by Susan Mallery

(Of course you all know I am a huge fan of all her books I could get my hands on, so this story is no exception)

I gave Whatever You Like by Maureen Smith 4 smirks because it is a book that draws readers in during the first chapter with the storyline of a professional escort (Lena) and a rich, stubborn man (Roderick) who immediately cannot seem to get enough of each other.

Things I Love About Whatever You Like by Maureen Smith:

Lena and her devotion to her family

Roderick’s over the top ways to get what he wants

Grant Writer by day and professional escort by night

The connection between Lena and Roderick

Witty, heated arguing/bantering

Roderick’s yacht with its own boutique

Hope, fear, frustration, and loss that both main characters go through

And of course, the playful intimacy that Lena and Roderick share together

Whatever You Like by Maureen Smith is a book that will draw you in with the sparks that fly with Lena and Roderick making you not want to put it down until you find out exactly how it ends.

Hey guys! Sorry I have been MIA for such a long time. I have scheduled postings of reviews through November and have been so busy I could not log on for awhile. I’m in a class right now in which the professor considers every student is only taking his class and therefore we have endless amounts of time to dedicate to his course….the sad part is I am totally serious and it sucks. Needless to say, that class topped with my other class and a case of family illness I have been unable to log on much and add more reviews to come in the future. However, the reason for my sudden and glorious reappearance is I was able to hide away these past couple of weekends and read! It was amazing! I have not been able to do that since classes started up in August.

I do not have full reviews for you all, but I do have my smirk system which I believe to be best next to nothing.

Personal Demons by Lisa Desrochers was an absolute thrill to read, I loved the banter of the main characters and how it seemed magical in its delivery. 5 smirks

Halo by Alexandra Adornetto another angel book which I was suspect of considering of how young the author is (17!). However even though it was close to 500 pages I found myself in rapture with every detail of the story and how very well written it was. It also made me laugh which is one of my major criteria for reading a book. 5 smirks

Moon Called by Patricia Briggs surprised me in ways I still did not think was possible for a supernatural based book. I loved that the story focused on the main character and who she is rather than getting too much into the love triangle which I suspect will be more explored in the second book of this series. (We all know how much I love a love triangle, I can’t wait!) 5 smirks

Torment by Lauren Kate which I’m not sure if most of you know is my favorite book series so far. With only two books currently out, Fallen and Torment, I fell completely into rapture with them. Fallen, I was addicted to and couldn’t wait until Torment came out and if you look back Fallen was actually my very first post on this blog. Torment by Lauren Kate was an absolute thrilling book to read. I did love it more than Fallen (but I will always love Fallen). I felt that with Luce and Daniel, both of them had more of a connection with the reader in this book. It was a beautifully written book and I find that I don't have many words for it because everything Luce felt at the end is what I feel right now. Easily 6 smirks.

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins is the last book in my favorite trilogy, The Hunger Games. I was really worried about the way Suzanne Collins was going to end The Hunger Games Trilogy, because I am/was so in tuned with everything about the world she built that a part of me felt like I was experiencing everything the characters were in the books. Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins wrapped up everything so Capitol style it was hard not to show surprise with every twist and turn that was thrown at you. It was everything that clicked that really showed you this beautiful world underneath the grim of war, terror, and nightmares. A very moving Trilogy that will never compare. And this is the first time I have ever done this for a book but what the hell, 10 smirks.

The Oracle Of Dating showed readers how complicated and messy liking someone can be if both party’s aren’t communicating very well. And in the end we as readers get to see Kayla and Jared happy together and The Oracle of Dating website booming again. The Oracle Rebounds starts off with Jared breaking up with Kayla and her having her heart broken to the point she isn’t sure what she is suppose to do. Lucky for her, she turns to herself from the past by getting her own advice through her own website.

More drama and more understanding

Emotional connection to characters/story

Jared finally realizing what he wants out of life

I gave The Oracle Rebounds by Allison Van Diepen 5 smirks because it is such a touching story about how to pick yourself up when you hit a wall. Allison Van Diepen is a fantastic writer who knows how to bring real emotion to readers and get them invested in the story’s outcome. I highly recommend reading The Oracle Of Dating and of course, The Oracle Rebounds because each book can make you feel better about life in general (even if you don’t have an problems, these books can give you positive aspects to look at if you ever find yourself in an impossible situation).

I really wanted to see what all the excitement was about with her Midnight Breed Series, so I decided to read the first book….and now I’m addicted. I absolutely fell in love with The Midnight Breed Series based on the first book alone.

Killer Heat by Brenda Novak is a story about trust and finding the courage to forgive. Out of the three books in this series so far, I related to this book the most. I see a lot of similarities and fears in Francesca that I see within myself and was able to connect with her character the most. I gave Killer Heat by Brenda Novak 5 smirks because showed what an act of forgiveness can do and what the act of not forgiving can potentially lead to.

Things I Loved About Killer Heat by Brenda Novak:

Francesca’s guarded exterior

Jonah’s struggles to forgive himself for the things he has done

Adriana’s crazy obsession with Jonah (even though I hated it, the story wouldn’t have been as good without it)

Jonah and Francesca’s “twenty questions”

Getting a glimpse at Nate and Rachel’s life briefly (White Heat)

Jonah always carrying a piece of Francesca with him

Murder investigation focusing on everything but the obvious

Making the reader feel like they were also a part of the investigation

And the physical and emotional fighting all the characters do within this story

Killer Heat by Brenda Novak is book filled with strength, love, forgiveness, fear, and hope that will have readers begging for more. Killer Heat is just one of those books you cannot live without.

I gave Body Heat by Brenda Novak 5 smirks because it is just such an involved story about what really happens all over world and gives the reader hope that just because things get dark does not mean there will never be light.

Things I Loved About Body Heat by Brenda Novak:

Rod and his defense mechanism of humor

Sophia’s passion for everything and everyone she cares about

The very real aspect of murder

The huge political uproar of how many people were actually involved

Rod’s determination to keep Sophia safe from anything and everything

A surprising family support system

Sarcastic dialogue between anyone and everyone

Being able to see different points of view from different characters

And the fact that both Rod and Sophia are underdogs who fight like hell to survive

Body Heat by Brenda Novak is a book worth owning because I believe justice never gets old. Not only that but the conflict and chemistry evident between Rod and Sophia are so promising it can make even the cynical hope for the future.

Seduced On The Red Carpet by Ann Christopher was a compelling story about finding what you truly want out of life. I gave Seduced On The Red Carpet by Ann Christopher 5 smirks because the story really pulls you into the two main characters. Livia and Hunter have this sparkling energy that always generates around them when they are together; it’s hard not to get lost within this book.

I loved that Ann Christopher brought aspects into this book about the different lives both Livia and Hunter come from. From spotlight to down to earth farmer, it’s a reality that makes the characters alive for readers. Seduced On The Red Carpet (love the title) draws readers into the lust, tension, loving, roller coaster environment that is Livia and Hunter themselves. I suspect most readers will be unable to put this book down until there is nothing left to read.

I really enjoyed the chemistry between Naomi and Zack. These two characters were so much alike it was funny and thrilling to see how each of them always wanted to take charge in their relationship. The Millionaire’s Ultimate Catch by Michelle Monkou displayed a tug a war with courage-fear, lust-envy, love-hate, rational- irrational, which allows readers to have a tug a war within themselves about how the main characters should end up.

Invincible by Joan Johnston was a surprising story about getting in touch with the person you use to be. Invincible really painted a picture of complicated relationships reaching and overcoming their breaking points. I really enjoyed the different points of view that Joan Johnston gave readers so we were able to see all the planning that went into the matchmaking. All the characters are so vital and different, as a reader it was spectacular to be a part of their world.

I love the whole idea of Bella determined to help her children get their happily ever afters is truly inspiring and imposing. I love that she is going to devote the time she has left to helping her children be happy and that she also seems to be making up for the years past. I really thought that Joan Johnston brought real relationship problems to life in Invincible. It allowed us as readers not only to see the main characters Max and Kristin relationship problems, but also other characters and their relationships. What I loved most about this story was the fact that it felt real, the problems, issues, and everything felt as though it could have happened in real life.

I gave Invincible by Joan Johnston 4 smirks because I did not want to stop reading it and was even a little disappointed that I have to wait for the next book to come out. I really am looking forward to reading about the rest of the Benedict’s love lives and am secretly hoping Emily will be a part of one of the stories in the future.

Nightshade by Andrea Cremer is a fantastically romantic, mysterious, soul searching story that will make you want to read and re-read it over and over again. Clearly this is a series book because what a huge cliff hanger to leave on. I don’t want to give away much about this amazing story, so I will just give you little tidbits I loved about this book.

Things I Loved About Nightshade by Andrea Cremer:

The story was elegantly written

Each chapter begins with a different phase of the moon

Shockingly, beautiful cover art (I mean seriously could you walk past this book in a bookstore and not want to pick it up?)

Ren an alluring alpha whose heart only wants one thing

Shay an adorable love struck puppy

Calla a hard ass alpha who hates dressing like a girlie girl and has only ever known duty to her pack and pack masters

Weird, eerie dynamics at the local high school

Forbidden Love

A heart being torn in two opposite directions

I gave Nightshade by Andrea Cremer 5 smirks because it really is a book everyone must own. There is something in it for everyone, adventure, mystery, romance, lust, knowledge, action. Nightshade truly touches base with every type of genre you could think of. The elegant delivery was swift and magical which is perfect for the story itself. It is the must have book of the year.

All I have to say is, seriously?!?! Falling for Gracie by Susan Mallery was like being transported to the town of Los Lobos and living everything Gracie and Riley lived. Susan Mallery created this hilarious, magnificent character, Gracie, who just makes you want to laugh and root for her and the life she has always wanted. I really invested in this story because it was so easy to fall into step with Riley and be embarrassed with Gracie, it is a story that makes you believe that even at fourteen it is still possible to find the love of your life.

Things I Loved About Falling For Gracie by Susan Mallery:

Gracie re-meeting Riley via new stalker tendencies

Gracie’s stalker tendencies at fourteen

Gracie dealing with her family

Riley’s three “F” rules

Riley’s Uncle’s huge portrait

The town siding with Gracie even though, there wasn’t really a side to take

Gracie’s and Riley’s humor with each other that makes even the cynical envious

The surprising easy flow of Riley and Gracie together

Riley finally following his heart (plus he’s very handsome)

And the whole crazy town of Los Lobos in general

I gave 5 smirks to Falling For Gracie by Susan Mallery because it brightened my day. There are only a handful of books that can do that for me and I am pleased to say that the majority of them are written by Susan Mallery. Susan Mallery gives readers characters who are all so completely different in every one of her books, but there is always something uniquely special about each one that makes you fall in love with them. Gracie and Riley make an entertaining, heart throbbing couple who just pull you in with their witty dialogue.

Finding Perfect by Susan Mallery was a truly amazing story. I loved that this book is a part of a series but it, like the other books in this series, can stand on its own. Finding Perfect is about the untraditional paths that life takes us on and about finding out that your fantasy of perfect is something you should hold out for. Pia who has appeared in the first two books of this series is a truly loveable character whom in the previous books we were able to see not only who she is in the present, but who she was in her past.

Finding Perfect proves that people can change for the better and even if their heart had been broken before time can heal all wounds. The aspect that truly made me jump for joy about Finding Perfect was the fact Susan Mallery allowed her readers to see a character in this book from one of her other books she has written. I absolutely loved the fact Susan Mallery was able to give her readers a true painting of what Raoul did with his life after he appeared as a high school football star in the Sweet Spot. At first I missed the fact Raoul was from a different book, but then after so many looks into his past showed in Finding Perfect it was easy to put together.

I loved us as readers were able to see Raoul grown up and getting settles into his new life in Fools Gold. Pia and Raoul are so much alike that you wouldn’t think there would be chemistry between the two, but there was enough to light fireworks for an entire city. Pia is a character people just fall in love with because of how big her heart is and with Raoul she has this uncanny ability to ramble about anything and everything that is very endearing. Raoul having been through what he has, turned out to be an amazing character with a ton of charm and the ability to let people tell him like it is without getting upset. So far Pia and Raoul are my favorite couple in The Fools Gold Series. I really look forward to more books coming out in this series because it is a series that captures readers’ attention with the uniqueness of small town charisma.

White Heat by Brenda Novak is a fascinating story about seeking the truth and finding what you’ve always been missing. I gave White Heat by Brenda Novak 5 smirks because this story delivers the fear, honesty, betrayal, and sacrifice that comes with not only being an undercover cop but a person who has to seek something they fear they can never have. I wasn’t really sure I was going to enjoy reading White Heat so it was a real surprise that I could NOT STOP reading. I thought it was the perfect blend of accuracy, romance, action, drama, and justice.

Rachel and Nathan make this really tension filled partnership that is based on not being honest with each other about their feelings. I also found Rachel’s unwillingness to not be taken for a fool again a very real aspect of what a person might do having been in Rachel’s shoes. And Nathan is fictional crush worthy with his rugged good looks, sense of humor, and a charm that could melt snow. I also thought the different points of view Brenda Novak played in White Heat to be very helpful and descriptive in filling in the blanks of how the other characters thought.

White Heat by Brenda Novak is a book that will get your heart pumping and have you on the edge of your seat until the story is finished. Brenda Novak brings readers into her story by having the thrill and excitement of the unknown lurking about, making each reader completely invested in the outcome.

Sins of the Flesh by Eve Silver continues on from the previous two books Sins of the Heart and Sins of the Soul. This series grows more and more intense with each book, in Sins of the Flesh we as readers finally get answers to the questions that have been plaguing us from the very begin, the most important being who killed Lokan. Sins of the Flesh is a deeply thrilling roller coaster ride that only stops at the very last page but still leaves you hanging in mid air. I’m anxious to know if it all ends with Sins of the Flesh or we as readers get to experience a Lokan point of view in the next book.

I love how Eve Silver takes each of these books and tailors it to a specific soul reaper (from the brothers) and tells a story of not only how to put back together Lokan but how they find love in all the wrong places. It is as if the soul reapers were destined to not find themselves and love until the very opportune time. Sins of the Flesh touches the lives of Calliope and Mal who just work so badly together it’s so right. I love the witty banter Mal displayed with Calli’s cool, calm, and collectiveness, it really worked well for them.

I gave Sins of the Flesh by Eve Silver 5 smirks because I really enjoyed unraveling the mystery alongside the soul reaper brothers and their mates. It really brought together everything we as readers experienced in the first two books. My hope as a reader is that Eve Silver finishes what she started and we finally get to see the last point of view with the last book from Lokan’s perspective and what he does now that he is whole.

Paranormalcy is a fantastically entertaining book. I was swept away with laughter while reading this amazing book. Paranormalcy is an addicting, fun, uncanny, story that just proves the grass is always greener on the other side. Like I am doing with a lot of the books I give 5 smirks to, I will just make a list of everything I loved about this story.

Paranormalcy by Kiersten White is a sexy, entertaining, witty book that draws you in right from the very first page. I love to laugh and there was no shortage of laughter while reading this book. Evie is a very loveable, relatable character who just wants her life to be normal; instead she is more paranormal than she originally thinks. Lend is a shy guy who draws you in with his every changing moods. And the whole IPCA is just such an insane mess that you do not want to miss. 5 smirks was given to Paranormalcy because it is a book that is worth reading over and over again. It’s a book I want on my book shelf and after you read it, I’m sure you’ll want it too.

The Seductive One by Susan Mallery continues on with the Marcelli Sisters focusing on Brenna and her past love Nic. Brenna and Nic are from two feuding families and have a very Romeo and Juliet love story happening for them. I personally find The Marcelli Sisters Series one that is very addicting, fun, snarky, loveable, and beautiful.

Things I Loved About The Seductive One by Susan Mallery:

Chemistry between Brenna and Nic

Joe’s protectiveness over Brenna

Nic’s inability to really get the whole picture even though in his heart he gets it

Brenna and Grandpa Lorenzo’s arguing over every little detail

Brenna’s knowledge and ability to go on and on about wine

Nic and his very, very bad boy good looks (and motorcycle)

Brenna and Nic’s betraying past and forgiving present

Brenna’s ability to give her heart without thinking about the consequences

Brenna’s determination to get on with her life

Grandpa Lorenzo’s scheme

And the whole Marcelli Clan coming together to get over past feuds and make Brenna happy

The Seductive One by Susan Mallery is a book that can make even the most stubborn readers laugh and share in the joy this story brings. The Marcelli Sisters Series is one I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys being able to experience big family and big loves in huge doses. I gave The Seductive One by Susan Mallery 5 smirks because when I was reading it, I smiled and laughed along with the characters and that is something I never take for granted.

Dead Beautiful by Yvonne Woon is a tragically, lively, stunning love story about finding out where your soul truly lies. I gave Dead Beautiful 5 smirks because it is a book that I did not want to put down and also a book very much worth re-reading over and over again. I do not want to give too much away in this review so I will just say the things that made this story one that I will never forget.

Things About Dead Beautiful by Yvonne Woon that Were Truly Remarkable:

First off this is Yvonne Woon’s first book and she nailed it (aka did a fantastic job drawing readers in)

The characters were all so different that they fit perfectly with each other

The descriptive, vivid, life like quality of the words flowing off the pages makes any reader bound to the story and its beauty

The mystery of where the story is going is unlike any other book

The cover art which is gorgeous, has a luring edge to it

The story just sweeps readers away with the mystery, deception, love, lust, and finding your true identity

Dead Beautiful by Yvonne Woon is special, life altering, mysterious, charming story with characters you cannot help but fall in love with. Reading Dead Beautiful by Yvonne Woon was like stepping into a forest and not knowing where you are going, with excitement with each step you take (or rather with every page you turn).

Always The Baker Never The Bride by Sandra D. Bricker was a compelling love story about being true to who you are and accepting challenges that life always seems to deal out. This book was very different from other romance stories I have read in the past, which is why I loved it. I gave Always The Baker Never The Bride by Sandra D. Bricker 5 smirks because I could not stop reading it until there was nothing left for me to read.

Jackson and Emma Rae are two characters who make a laugh out loud hilarious couple. I just love how Jackson and Emma Rae are individually before they become a couple and how they are together, they really bring out each other’s good sides and bad sides all the time. I also really enjoyed how the “dating” aspect of this book resembles and opens up insight into reality dating. “After Care” makes soooo much more sense now, and I just want to thank Sandra D. Bricker for finally naming something I could never understand.

Always The Baker Never The Bride by Sandra D. Bricker is a wonderful, romantic, hard working story that convinces even the most cynical readers (*cough, cough* me) that love is out there waiting. I would also like to mention how creative this title is, I mean really it is very catchy. Another thing worth mentioning is how great this book was with so many different characters’ personalities. These personalities were so polar opposite of each other, a reader wouldn’t think they could all get along, but Sandra D. Bricker makes it happen in the most unusual, surprising way.

Always The Baker Never The Bride by Sandra D. Bricker is a must read, simple as that.

Firelight is a beautifully written story about a girl, Jacinda, who struggles to fit into human existence after being ripped away from everything she knows as home. I cannot even begin to describe how this story captures you and makes you feel invested in the characters themselves. I would normally love to gush paragraph after paragraph about how truly wonderful this book is, but I would much prefer doing a list of what I loved about the book.

Things I loved about Firelight by Sophie Jordan:

A weird love triangle

Stereotypically portrayed cheerleaders

Amazing descriptions of Draki in true form

Talented Draki

Jacinda in general

Jacinda’s ignorance of High School and who not to piss off

Will, a gorgeous Hunter who doesn’t want to hunt

A connection between Will and Jacinda that screams off the pages

And Breath taking Cover Art

I gave 5 smirks to Firelight because as a reader you are instantly draw into the cover and once you start reading you are drawn into the words and how they effortlessly flow off the pages and paint a stunning story for you to read. I am also really impressed and frustrated that Sophie Jordan Like Suzanne Collins has a knack for leaving readers in the middle of a scene. The cliff-hanger was something that I did not expect from this book but I was proven otherwise. I can’t wait until the next installment, which is a long time from now in my eyes. Firelight by Sophie Jordan is a book that needs to be on your bookshelves, it is one of the greats and you will not regret purchasing it.

I really enjoyed Sins of the Soul, the second book in a series, the first being Sins of the Heart. Sins of the Soul was a very enthralling read as far as how we as readers get to continue to unravel the mysteries of these whacky soul reapers. I love how Eve Silver writes not just in the point of view of the main characters of this book but also from main characters from Sins of the Heart. As readers we get a continued storyline and different perspectives on each mystery of each character.

What I really loved about Sins of the Soul was Naphre and Alastor and their whole dynamic. It was interesting to see these two characters fall for each other because they act the same. They are the same yet they are different but in such subtle ways that it is almost impossible to see. I thought the continued story which started out with Sins of the Heart then onto Sins of the Soul (this book) was a really great transition. We get to experience a different soul reaper brother in this book as well as another Otherkin who is in almost the same position as Roxy.

I am really looking forward to buying Sins of the Heart as well as Sins of the Soul when they come out. I am also really hoping to read the next installment of this series when it becomes available because, what can I say? This series is deeply seductive, mysterious, enthralling, and incredibly addicting.

Control was a really peculiar book. I felt as though a story about control has been done so many times that this book couldn’t possibly show me a different side, I was wrong. Control showed a side of the controlee and how in this case she did not know she was being controlled until way later in her marriage. Elise is a character who had all this promise when she was younger, so much so she attracted the attention of Robert, an older rich man who opened up her world to an endless supply of anything and everything she could have ever wanted.

Elise was taken away from a living she wasn’t really satisfied with and catapulted into this life of rich opportunity when she married Robert. Until one day she started realizing she wasn’t really living her life, but one her husband thought she should live. Control really allowed readers to see a struggle of a woman who finally figures out her life and what she wants from it. Control shows Elise taking control of her life and finally finding her soul mate.

I gave this book 4 smirks because two of the characters were so genuine (Elise and Dion) I couldn’t help but think they were based on real people. I also loved that this book gives readers hope. Hope to fight another day for a life they may want, hope to stand up for themselves, and hope to finally find that person who completes you. Kayla Perrin really brings to light a struggle for control of the life you want to live and how no matter what you should always fight for it.

Burning Up by Susan Andersen

Burning Up by Susan Andersen was an incredibly uplifting book that shows that finding the right person is like finding another piece of your soul. I could not for the life of me stop reading Burning Up until there was nothing left to read. It is the kind of book you don’t want to put down because you are completely invested in the main characters future. So much so that your emotions are tied directly to the storyline and how it affects each character.

One of the great things I loved about Burning Up was the small town vibe you get from the very beginning of the book. As a reader from a small town it is easy to empathize with Macy about going back to a place that has burned you over and over again. As readers we also to know not only Macy and why she is the way she is but we also get to know an equally complex character, Gabe. Gabe is a sexy firefighter with a hot temper and a force to behold when he sets his sights on something he needs and wants.

I gave Burning Up by Susan Andersen 5 smirks because it instantly enthralls you into a world that both Macy and Gabe are trying to navigate and find a safe way out with their hearts still intact. Burning Up is a true love story about soul mates, facing your fears and being brave enough to embrace the improbable in your life.

5 smirks from me is like winning the lottery, when I give 5 smirks to a book it is because there is nothing about the story that I did not love. I loved everything about Carly Phillip’s Love Me If You Dare. And I cannot wait till I own it so I can relive the greatness of it over and over again.

Things Readers have to look forward to from this fabulous book are:

Not just a romantic story line

Story involving NYPD Cops (very heartfelt and inspiring to those entering in the same field)

Mysteries in every corner of a small town

Small town charm that will win even the most cynically people over

Rafe and Sara’s chemistry and knowledge of each other’s minds is heart stopping

Both Sara and Rafe’s personalities are witty and fun

Overwhelming family members who make you laugh with their honesty

Characters who are so unique and realistically based could potentially describe anyone you know

Sub-stories within the story of Rafe and Sara

The ultimate sacrifice for love and happiness

These are the reasons I fell in love with this book and was unable to give nothing but 5 smirks. As readers we want a story that draws us in and makes us apart of what the story entails. In Love Me If You Dare by Carly Phillips we as readers get that and so much more.

Crazy for Love by Victoria Dahl was a surprisingly great story. I was worried about finding commonalities between this romance story and other romance stories I have read in the past. But I really enjoyed Crazy for Love because it was so different from anything else I have ever read. I gave Crazy for Love by Victoria Dahl 5 smirks because I loved all the characters and the story itself so much it was hard not to get captivated by it.

Things I Loved About Crazy for Love by Victoria Dahl:

Chloe and all her baggage

Max and his narcotic, controlling tendencies

The fact that Chloe can see through Max’s intentions

Sharp, intelligent dialogue

Betrayal, determination, and desire

Mystery of why Chloe’s ex-fiancé faked his own death

Max and Chloe overcoming everything bad about their past’s in order to be together

Crazy for Love by Victoria Dahl was an incredibly addicting story about finding love and letting go of the past. Definitely worth adding to your book collection.

Review of Love Remains by Kaye Dacus

Synopsis: “Zarah's and Bobby's grandmothers see a chance to bring together high school sweethearts and beat their senior friends in a matrimony challenge!”

Love Remains was a pleasantly surprising book to me. It was a true love story about the sacrifices, hardships, and life choices people make that can change everything at a moment’s notice. I thought Zarah represented this incredibly beautiful person who only showed herself to certain people she could trust, and even then it was hard for her to let her guard down. As readers Zarah’s voice and character allowed us to get into contact with the feelings of being in the background as Zarah always was. It was different at least for me, to read about emotions that I do not particularly feel all the time, and it was as hard to read about those emotions as it is for Zarah to actually have them.

Besides Zarah, I thought all the other characters were funny, entertaining, and sweet. As a reader I was instantly drawn to Bobby for the way he presented himself as well as his thought processes. I found myself glued to the screen trying to finish reading the story in order to see what happens in the end. Kaye Dacus really has a creative, new, way of writing a love story that took me off guard from what I am normally use to.

Love Remains is a fun, thoughtful, pleasant book about going after your heart’s desire even if it means getting your heart broken again. I give it 4 smirks and look forward to reading the next installment in this trilogy.

Bad goes to worse when she stirs up a crazy relationship with the town's not so warm and fuzzy veterinarian, Ian MacFarland, in order to flag Mark's attention. So Ian is more comfortable with animals.... So he's formal, orderly and just a bit tense. The ever-friendly, fun-loving and spontaneous Callie decides it's time for Ian to get a personality makeover. But dang, if he doesn't shock the heck out of her, she might actually fall for Vermont's unlikeliest eligible bachelor....”

All I Ever Wanted by Kristan Higgins was an absolutely hilarious story. I loved every minute of reading it because it had the best dialogue and the best characters. I gave All I Ever Wanted by Kristan Higgins 5 smirks because it made me laugh, cry, feel heart break, and every single other emotion there is. I loved that this book pulled me in at the very first chapter and made me feel emotions because the characters are written so well they could very well exist in real life.

Things I Loved About All I Ever Wanted by Kristan Higgins:

Callie’s family that puts the fun in dysfunctional

Mark’s willingness to do whatever it takes to get whatever he wants

Callie’s mess of a life

Ian’s standoff personality (very entertaining)

Callie’s cleverly done comebacks

Callie’s Mom owning and living in a funeral home

Callie’s Grandfather swearing every chance he gets

Ian and Callie working well together even though they are polar opposites

The complicated ups and downs of the story

All I Ever Wanted by Kristan Higgins is definitely a book worth reading over and over again. What I loved most about it was the fact that I laughed a lot because every situation Callie gets herself into is almost always embarrassing and amusing.

Siren by Tricia Rayburn is a heart breaking story about finding out who you truly are. I found myself connecting with Vanessa and all of her fears, and because of that her emotions were my emotions. I always feel so relieved and excited when an author can pull a reader so far into a story their own emotions can change while reading it. Siren is definitely a story that will pull you in and hold you captive until there is nothing left for you to read. So to get on with it, you all know the deal I gave the book 5 smirks…

Siren by Tricia Rayburn is a book that you will want to read over and over again. I highly suggest making it apart of your book collections. Siren by Tricia Rayburn is a roller coaster ride of mystery and soul searching you will not want to put down. It’s a story that will pull you in with its lovely melody of enchanting words.

Touch of Surrender by Rhyannon Byrd was just a remarkable story. I loved all the characters in Touch of Surrender because you really got to know each one of them during the story. The other aspect of this book I found wonderful was that fact it is a series book but it can also stand on its own.

Things I Love About Touch of Surrender by Rhyannon Byrd:

Different points of view between Kier and Morgan

Kier and Morgan never being truly on the same page

Sarcastic comebacks

Sharp dialogue

Swam shape shifters with really bad tempers

Vampires, werewolves, shape shifters, and other various monsters

Discovery of what has always been in your heart

Fighting for a life that is not your own

Sacrifice and determination

And Kier and Morgan’s passion for each other that floats off the pages even when they are yelling (which is often)

I gave Touch of Surrender by Rhyannon Byrd 5 smirks because it is a book that I will want to read over and over again. Touch of Surrender is about passion, fighting, and the supernatural (what’s not to love?). This story, although a part of a series is really intense. Once you pick it up you will not be able to put it back down until there is nothing left to read. Touch of Surrender by Rhyannon Byrd is a sexy, addictive, thrill ride that will stir your own desires and leave you wanting more.

Review of Sea by Heidi R. Kling

Since her mother’s plane went missing over the Indian Ocean three years before, Sienna doesn’t do anything if it involves the ocean or planes, so this trip is a big step forward.

But the last thing she expects is to fall for Deni, a brooding Indonesian boy who lives at the orphanage, and just so happens to be HOT. When Deni hears a rumor that his father may be alive, Sienna doesn’t think twice about running away with him to the epicenter of the disaster. Unfortunately, what they find there could break both their hearts.”

Sea by Heidi R. Kling was a heart breaking and inspiring book. The first 25 pages had me clutching my chest thinking “gee thanks for breaking my heart right at the very beginning.” Have no fear though, it turned out ok. I mean the characters were awesome, but I wanted to know more about Sea and Spider, I guess obviously I’m Team Spider. I thought Heidi Kling did a fantastic job describing and setting a scene for death, destruction, fear, loss, and hope. (Which I might add is very hard to do and takes a very compelling author to be able to bring emotions like that to the surface for a reader).

I felt a real connection to what Team Hope was doing in “Indo” and that it gave each of the characters back apart of themselves that they lost over time. And for Sea to find comfort in a boy named Deni who was in the same position as she was sweet and caring. I guess I wasn’t really a fan of Deni because I had my heart set on Spider for Sea; they just seemed like a better, fuller fit. Deni and Sea are from two different oceans and waves apart, it would just be hard.

I gave Sea 4 smirks because I enjoyed reading it, and while I was reading it I had real emotions that were closely tied in with the characters were feeling. I’m not sure if I would want to read Sea again, maybe in a year, because the emotions that hit me were pretty hard to take. Like spiraling out of control and spiraling back into control just gets harder and harder to digest. Do I think it is a book worth reading? 100% yes. Do I think it is a book worth buying? Yes, I’ve never had an author depicted so much turmoil that it hit me right in the chest, it is really quite breathing taking to be able to have that affect on readers. And if you read Sea by Heidi Kling you will know exactly what I am talking about.
