The Best Mistake by Kate Watterson

Review of The Best Mistake by Kate Watterson

Published: January 16, 2012

4 out of 5 smirks

Synopsis: " When Lacey Billings gives her boyfriend, Ran, an erotic wake-up call in the middle of the night, she's shocked to discover that the gorgeous man she's kissing isn't Ran...it's his cousin, Rick.

Although Ran laughs off the mix-up, Lacey and Rick can't stop thinking about the unexpected encounter, and they can't escape the scorching flashbacks it's aroused.

Ran doesn't want an innocent mistake to ruin his relationship with his girlfriend or his cousin, so he proposes a solution. He wants the three of them to solve this problem the old-fashioned way, by sleeping on it...together."

The Best Mistake by Kate Watterson is a story about living life unconventionally and being strong enough to stand up for what you want.  Ran, Lacey, and Rick are three characters who have undeniable chemistry and banter.  I give The Best Mistake by Kate Watterson 4 smirks because this story shows readers that living unconventionally can be the one true thing that makes them happy.

Immortal Rider by Larissa Ione

Review of Immortal Rider by Larissa Ione

5 out of 5 smirks

Synopsis: "The signs are everywhere...disastrous world events. Evil rising up, unleashed upon the innocent. The prophecies were there...but no one listened. Until now. The time has come for those who can either usher in Doomsday...or prevent it. They are here. They ride. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Arik Wagner, a soldier with the U.S. Army's paranormal unit, the R-XR, kissed a girl and liked it. And then he went to hell as punishment. Where he's spent weeks being tortured...and plotting revenge.

Limos, Horsewoman of the Apocalypse, isn't your average girl. She's immortal, dangerous, and her fiancé is Satan himself. In a moment of weakness, she gave in to her desire and kissed Arik, triggering her fiancé's wrath - and his claim on her. In order to save Arik, and the world, Limos must make a dangerous pact with her recently turned evil brother, Pestilence. A deal that might just cost her soul...and her heart."

Immortal Rider by Larissa Ione is a continuation of the Lords of Deliverance Series.  Immortal Rider is the second book of this series and it does not disappoint.   Immortal Rider tells Limos' and Ariks' story about finding each other through the gates of Hell and finally being able to share the one thing with each other they have kept from everyone else; truth.  Limos and Arik are two characters with banter, sense of humor, and honor that will have readers turning the pages for more.  I give Immortal Rider by Larissa Ione 5 smirks because the story kept me on the edge of my seat, the characters continued to surprise me, and I'm a sucker for any story involving The Apocalypse and true love.

Don't Mess With Texas by Christie Craig

Review of Don't Mess With Texas by Christie Craig

Published: September 1, 2011

5 out of 5 smirks

Synopsis: " Nikki Hunt thought her night couldn't get worse when her no-good, cheating ex ditched her at dinner, sticking her with the bill. Then she found his body stuffed in the trunk of her car and lost her two-hundred-dollar meal all over his three-thousand-dollar suit. Now not only is Nikki nearly broke, she's a murder suspect.

Former cop turned PI, Dallas O'Connor knows what it's like to be unjustly accused. But one look at the sexy-though skittish-suspect tells him she couldn't hurt anyone. The lead detective, Dallas's own brother, has the wrong woman and Dallas hopes a little late-night "undercover" work will help him prove it . . ."

Don't Mess With Texas by Christie Craig is a story about mystery, thrill, and romance.  I found myself instantly drawn into this book because of the two main characters, Nikki and Dallas.  Nikki and Dallas are two halves of a whole and will make readers at one moment angry and in the next laughing hysterically.  Another really amazing thing about this book is how Christie Craig gives readers different perspectives (points of view), but also allows different characters stories to blend into the main story line.  I give Don't Mess With Texas by Christie Craig 5 smirks because readers will not be able to put the book down.

5 out of 5 smirks

Synopsis: "It's hard to keep a secret in the small town of Pike, Montana, but veterinarian Margot McDougal and sheriff Roy Lee Hanson managed to keep their relationship on the sly for months. Margot cares for Roy Lee, but the last thing she needs is to worry about local gossip while she's busy running her clinic and dealing with the loss of her beloved father.

Roy Lee can't wait to tell the world that he loves Margot. He respected her decision to keep their affair quiet until now. It's time for everyone to know Margot is his gal...especially Ryan Martin, her new assistant. He's formed an attachment to Margot and Roy Lee is sure the city boy's unexplained appearance in Pike means he's up to no good.

Margot just wants to help Ryan fit in, and Roy Lee's jealousy soon drives a wedge between them. A wedge that only increases when Margot is roped into Ryan's secret, too..."

Margot's Lawman by Debra Kayn is a story about not being afraid to go after what you want.  Margot and Roy Lee are two characters who just click and work well at complimenting one another.  I am a huge fan of this series so far and find I cannot put any of the books down until there is nothing left to read.  Debra Kayn has a way of bringing not only the characters to touch readers' hearts, but also the culture of Pike as well.  I give Margot's Lawman by Debra Kayn 5 smirks because this book continues to draw readers into the lives of the McDougal women.

5 out of 5 smirks

Synopsis: "Nikki Cartwright can’t believe Jonas Steele—the Jonas Steele—has chosen her for a high-profile marketing venture. It could make her career. But when she remembers the kiss they once shared, a kiss so intimate it sent their desire skyrocketing from simmering to blazing, Nikki knows she must guard her heart against the seductive Phoenix playboy as if her life depends on it.

Jonas has no problem making their professional relationship personal. With the beautiful and talented photographer within his reach, he can erase her from his system once and for all. From a whirlwind Las Vegas affair to jet-setting across four continents, this Steele discovers getting Nikki out of his system is easier said than done, and now he wants her to belong to him heart and soul—as the woman of his most passionate fantasies.…"

Private Arrangements by Brenda Jackson is such an adorable story about finding out your true feelings and not being afraid to own up to them.  Nikki and Jonas are characters who can not only have the best chemistry in the world, but who can also just laugh together (which makes this story truly one of a kind).  I found myself falling instantly in love with Nikki and Jonas because they are so relatable and real that readers will be able to see pieces of themselves in these characters. I give Private Arrangements by Brenda Jackson 5 smirks because readers will not be able to put this story down and even after they do, they will still crave more.
